I've been enjoying the wood quizes, figured I might take a turn.

This wood has about the same air dried density as cuban mahogany, and about the same hardness. Hope the picture is clear enough.

Winner gets the tub-o-lard (or pig, which ever is easiest to ship)that I won from the Kinnairds.

Yes we have a winner! Unless Bruce was talking about Tasmanian Myrtle (Nothofagus cunninghamii), it's also called Beech Myrtle and I don't think it's related to the northern hemisphere Myrtle.

Shawn, this will be my first time building with tassy myrtle, how can I expect it to sound?

Of course I was talking about Tas myrtle. Remember when I was looking for some Aussie wood a few months back and we exchanged a few messages?

But that's okay, just let Shawn have the lard.

Keep us posted about how it works for you.

So Paul, do we just ship the lard on to Shawn?
That would save a LOT of postage....

I should have known that! I have some, but with a wider flame. I also have some Taz Tiger Myrtle, which is even cooler because of the fungus in the pores which gives it a spotted appearance.

This piece has nice flame on top of that...
